I used three medias for this piece India ink, acrylic, and watercolor. For this piece I took inspiration from a photograph that I had taken last year. I have always been drawn to black and white images; if you look at my photography as well as my sculptures you can see this. I knew from photography how a black and white image should look. I understood the concept of shading and light in these types of images. Another concept I knew from past experience was how to use India ink. One new concept that I learned was how to use salt and watercolor together in order to create a texture, you can see my use of this technique in the background. A piece of learning that I will take forward is drawing images in a 2D form. Specifically making the image seem that they are in 3D and in the correct perspective. I believe that knowing this and understanding how to do it myself will improve my sculptures. This is because I can now take more time to understand the form/object I am creating on a 2D surface and then start creating it in a 3D form.

This piece is meant to show both how we try to mend our feelings/heart but still on the inside we can never truly cleanse ourselves of our true feelings.

This piece is meant to show that the bird has lost its distinctive property, its feathers. Without them it can no longer see clearly who it is.

I wanted this design to have an organic feel, this is why I used burlap and newspaper. I also photographed outside for this reason.

The flowers on this dress are hand made origami lotus flowers. I chose to take the final photographs outside in order to get natural light and also I didn’t want the backdrop to have such a polished look, as a studio would.

On the board is an outline of a person broken into pieces, with nails on each piece. The idea of the piece is to show that the person is falling apart, piece by piece, in the midst of a very structured surrounding, which is why the background has very straight and rigid lines and shapes.

This piece is titled Forgive me father for I have sinned? This piece reflects the idea that every sin you commit and every choice you make are a part of you and make you a whole person.
Mixed
In this set I did abstract, pattern overlap, contrast, macro, bird eye- view, and ants eye-view photography. In this set I learned how create contrast in a photo and also how to take a macro photograph.
Portraits
In this set I really wanted to capture real people doing everyday things, so I mostly photographed outside in public areas.
